To be a true style chameleon is to constantly reinvent your look. What better way to do that than trying out different hairstyles instead of the same old, safe look? Don’t be stuck in a hair rut, it’s the only part of your appearance that you can truly and safely experiment with and have some fun with. Amp up your style with these 6 different hairstyles you must try at least once, it will be totally worth it. After all, you only live once!

The Pixie Cut
When you’re feeling bold and looking for a drastic change in your look, the pixie cut is the hairstyle to try. It may be super short but is still ultra feminine and will definitely add an edge to your style. Think Halle Berry and Michelle Williams as you rock those soft, sexy spikes.

Ombre Hair
You must have spotted at least one of your fave celebs sporting this style at some point. This 2-toned hair trend is one that repeatedly comes back into vogue and is an extremely fun spin on ordinary hair colouring. Ombre hair features darker, natural coloured hair at the roots that gradually lighten at the ends. It’s a great idea for when you’re looking out for a change without getting a drastic haircut. Plus it gives a sexy, sun-kissed look to your hair.

A Fringe
Wispy side bangs or a full-on box fringe, either can give your face and hairstyle an instant makeover. Bangs are the easiest way to change your look and create a statement. Don’t be afraid to try it out, you’ll be surprised at how much they suit you.

The Bob
When you’ve had enough of those long locks that seem to get perpetually tangled; cropping it off can feel extremely liberating. A super sleek bob suits any type of hair- curly or straight and helps look extremely sophisticated. Try it when you want to reinvent your style and are looking for new beginnings.

Glamorous Waves
Whether you do them yourselves or get a salon style, beautiful waves are the most versatile hairstyle to try. Your unruly affair can take you from a gorgeous beach style to a charismatic red-carpet worthy style.

A Blunt Cut
If you’ve got wavy to straight hair then you should definitely try a simple blunt cut at some point of time. When you’re looking for a shorter cut but not anything as drastic as a bob or the pixie cut, try a soft, shoulder-skimming blunt-cut bob with a side fringe for a classy, relatively low-maintenance hairstyle.

Irrespective of whether our personal style is subtle or bold, there are plenty of trends out there that we haven’t even tried as yet as it’s hard to keep up with fashion sometimes. No matter what your style is, here are 7 trends that you most definitely must try if you haven’t already. They’ll look so good; you’ll wonder what took you so long to try them.

Platform Heels
Whether you’re vertically challenged or ramp-model-tall, you still need a pair of sky-high platforms in your closet for a 5 inch boost to your style. If you’re intimidated by high heels, fret not, platform heels or wedges have thick, strong heels for plenty of balance and support to stomp around in comfortably which makes them one trend everyone must definitely try.

A Denim Jacket
Come rain or shine, a denim jacket can instantly add some structure and uplift an outfit. A classic piece that can be paired with anything from pants to shorts to a pretty summer dress, if you haven’t got one already it’s about time you did.

Winged Eyeliner
Winged eyes have been around since the retro era which is proof that they do magically add a spark to your eyes. Elongate your lashes with the cat eyeliner trick, the longer the flicks the more drama they add to your style.

Mixing Prints
This is one trend that has intimidated even the boldest of fashionistas in the start but is definitely a must-try to add an edge to your style. You’ll be surprised at how good two or three prints look together and is great to make the most out of items in your vast wardrobe. Plus, mixing and matching is so much fun!

Bright Lips
A bold pout is the sexiest way to add a pop of colour to your ensemble. We all know how ultra glamorous scarlet lips look. Other shades to try are pinks, corals, peaches and berries for a refreshing colour burst. If this sounds too bold for you, begin with baby steps by wearing a coloured gloss before trying a bright lipstick.

High-waists
Just ‘coz you’re young doesn’t mean the lower your waistline the better. We know that high-waist jeans and shorts are back in fashion so there must be something about them since they repeatedly find their way back in style and in better cuts. They conceal problem tummies and help highlight the curve in your waist so definitely get your hands on a pair of two.

A Fringe
There are so many women out there who can pull off bangs way better than they believe they could, but they won’t know unless they try it. If you’ve never done it then you should definitely take the plunge at least once and chop it off. Don’t worry a fringe grows back really fast so you won’t need to live with it for too long if you don’t like it.

Jennifer Lawrence
Nailing red carpet styles seems to come naturally to her as she shows us why monochrome is still so hot right now. Jennifer works the Dior two-tone strapless gown effortlessly.

Eva Longoria
Picking this refreshing seafoam colour was a fantastic choice and a smart way to really brighten up the red carpet. The Atelier Versace number looks great on Eva’s skin-tone and brings a charming beachy vibe to her style.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole’s ankle-length Christian Dior dress is my fave pick and oh, don’t forget those pink heels! The dress is super glam with colourful elements that add a playful chic charm that undeniably made her look like the belle of the ball.

Rooney Mara
No one pulls off minimalistic as well as Rooney does. In spite of not wearing a single accessory, she wowed in a black and white shift dress and dark berry lips.

Emma Watson
Another starlet who opted for a monochrome two-toned gown was Emma Watson looking all grown up and fabulous. I think she dazzled in Chanel Couture.

Carey Mulligan
The Great Gatsby star also went minimal in a simple yet classic pink gown by Christian Dior. She added slight drama with a red pout and a diamond bracelet but otherwise let the beautiful gown do the talking. Carey looked the epitome of elegance.

Lana Del Rey
Lana was a sight for sore eyes in a strapless white gown with black embroidery at the premier of The Great Gatsby. Sticking to the theme of the film, she looked very 20’s-glam with her flawless hair and makeup.

Cindy Crawford
Supermodel Cindy proved that age truly is just a number as she rocked a white Roberto Cavali gown with a plunging neckline. Here’s hoping we look half as hot as she does at 47!

Zoe Saldana
Monochrome seems to be the call of the season as even Zoey Saldana embraces the style in Emanuel Ungaro. Loving the polka-dotted skirt and the addition of those gorgeous orange heels. She’s definitely inspired me to mix up some black and white pieces.

Sonam Kapoor
This year, Sonam has been a woman on a mission to seriously up the ante with her red carpet looks. Except for one forgettable look, I think she has totally nailed it with outfits that couldn’t be more different from one another.
For the screening of The Great Gatsby, she went for traditional with a twist in an Anamika Khanna white lace saree with which she added a floor-sweeping, gold embroidered jacket. Though many people have mixed feelings towards this ensemble I think it worked. The hair and make-up was flawless and went really well with the whole look, including the statement nose ring.
On Day 2, she floated down the red carpet in a voluminous Dolce & Gabbana gown that was custom made for her. The stunning Sunita Kapoor necklace and luscious, side-swept locks totally helped her own the style.
Her appearance in the black Shehla Khan number has been the only downer in her stylish run. The so-called lehenga had us wondering what had gotten into her suddenly. I think the outfit did absolutely nothing for her; the only saving grace was the pretty up-do and Chopard diamond necklace.

Freida Pinto
Freida proved why she’s probably the only Indian actress to have successfully made the transition to Hollywood with her graceful and elegantly poised style on the Cannes red carpet. Both her appearances so far have seen her looking radiant and effortlessly chic.
Day one had her grab attention in a custom, hot pink Gucci halter gown that had a pink, gold and orange beaded belt vying for attention around her waist. The colour looked great on her. Don’t miss the glittering gold, embellished heels that have made her an object of envy for women everywhere.
She came back on the second day, glowing in a beaded Sanchita gown with matching dragonfly clips in her hair and strappy Jimmy Choos. A scooped back and red lips just added to the romantic charm of her look. Soft up-dos completed both of her appearances.

Vidya Balan
She may be on the jury of Cannes this year but that doesn’t stop us from judging her style, or lack of it! Though there’s nothing extremely wrong with her sartorial choices as such, it just has us really wishing that she try something different for a change. Each appearance has seen her in a full sleeved Sabyasachi accompanied by her hair wound in a bun, yes that’s each and every outfit on each and every day!
Though her choices of outfits have been very so-so, special mention needs to be made for the gorgeous baubles she’s been sporting with each look. From blue sapphires, to pretty jhumkas and a nath (nose-ring), they added a regal charm to her appearances. At least accessorizing is one thing she isn’t afraid to step up and experiment with.
Since there are a few days left to go till the close of the film festival, here’s hoping she’s got a special sartorial surprise in store for us.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Ash has received enough flack over the years for her style choices, which probably had her step it up and prove the world wrong. This year, she’s been anything but a fashion disaster and has actually fared pretty well on the red carpet with her two distinct appearances.
Her first look was a gorgeous grey and black lace, sequinned Elie Saab Couture gown which had her looking confident and super glam.
She went traditional for her next appearance in a lace black Sabyashi lehenga saree with beautiful gold Baroque work. She finished it off with a simple up-do and a pretty, gold tiara-esque headband giving it a royal feel.
I think she looked fab this year, let’s hope she continues with this ethereal style in the future.
